Day Porter Job Description

Job Title: Day Porter
Department: Operations
Reports To: Assistant Branch Manager/Area Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Summary: Keeps premises of office building in clean and orderly condition by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Respond to customers’ requests and complete duties that are given.
  • Perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks such as dusting, cleaning ashtrays, sweeping, vacuuming, dust mopping, spot cleaning, trash collection and removal, glass cleaning and restroom cleaning.
  • Request necessary supplies and maintenance needed on equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment assigned in a neat and clean condition.
  • Perform other similar and related duties as assigned.

Job Requirements include the following.

  • Must be able to work standing up for long periods of time.
  • Must have basic interpersonal skills; ability to work in the general public and communicate with co-workers and customers.
  • Must have ability to read and speak English.
  • Must be able to push or pull a minimum of 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 – 50 pounds.

  • Assign tasks to employees, and inspects completed work for conformance to standards.
  • Issues supplies and equipment.
  • Resolves employees’ problems or refers matters to Assistant Branch Manager/Area Manager.
  • Perform a wide variety of cleaning tasks such as dusting, cleaning ashtrays, sweeping, vacuuming, dust mopping, spot cleaning, trash collection and removal, glass cleaning and restroom cleaning.
  • Request necessary supplies and maintenance needed on equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining equipment assigned in a neat and clean condition.

  • We have developed an extensive safety program that includes both initial and on-going training for all employees.
  • All employees undergo orientation training which includes: company history, mission, values, general rules and safety training.
  • All management team members are required to complete a minimum of 12 hours of continuing education each year. This is tied directly to their compensation package.
  • GSF offers a comprehensive tuition reimbursement program for all full-time employees after six months of service.
  • GSF partners with local organizations to offer ESL (English as a Second Language) training to employees.

Employee of The Month Awards

  • Each employee of the month receives 40 points to spend on the following merchandise.
  • Each point is equivalent to $1.
  • Points may be “banked” and used at a later date
